Eldon Yellowhorn

Dr. Eldon Yellowhorn was born the ninth of ten children in Brocket, a town in southern Alberta. He is a member of the Piikani Nation. As a child, his favorite activity was reading. Once he got to high school, his favorite subjects were math, biology, physics, and chemistry. He went on to university and graduated with a PhD in archeology. His early career in archaeology began in southern Alberta where he studied the ancient cultures of the plains. His interests include the mythology and folklore of his Piikani ancestors in both ancient and recent times. He has written three books for adults and produced a video about the history of Native Peoples in Alberta. He is currently a professor at Simon Fraser University where he teaches First Nations Studies. When he’s not teaching, he enjoys walking with his dog, going to the farmers’ market, and cooking.
